Assignment Title: Senior Trainer on Mental Health

Contexte

Action under lot 3 “Mental Health, Substance Abuse and Psychosocial Support” of the project to “Improve Access and Quality of Health Care Services in Libya” funded by the European Commission, and reference to the collaboration agreement with “Handicap International Federation”.

The project scope aims at Improving Access and Quality of Health Care Services in Libya, Lot Three specifically targets Mental Health, Substance Abuse and Psychological Support. Amongst the specific objectives proposed in this Lot are:

  • Psychosocial distress, mental health and substance abuse reduced.
  • Expanded access, availability and acceptability to quality psychosocial support and mental health care.
  • Training and up skilling of mental health staff.
  • Greater awareness about the risks and manifestations of mental illness and substance abuse amongst at-risk groups.

Purpose of the Position

This position is located within NEBRAS as joint applicant with ASSOCIATION FEDERATION HANDICAP INTERNATIONAL, under the operating name of Humanity & Inclusion. The position has field and home-based assignments, as applicable. The incumbent will be under the overall supervision of the Senior Project Manager. Within delegated authority, Senior Trainer on Mental Health will be responsible for, but not limited to, the performance of the following duties:

  • Preparation of the syllabus of the various theoretical and practical training courses proposed (including titles, educational objectives, the number of hours, the duration of the courses and their objectives).
  • Proposal of the calendar of the different trainings and the internships.
  • Ensures the implementation of these formations.
  • Provides tutoring in the training field.

Deliverables

  • Proposal of the syllabus of the training of the different target audiences.
  • Development of educational goals and comprehensive curriculum in terms of coverage of most common mental health mental health, substance abuse and neurological disorders:

– Child psychiatry (including developmental disorders, behavioral disorders). – Stress related disorders (including emotional or medically unexplained complaints, phobic

disorders, etc, and acute stress disorders (PTSD). – Depression (mild and severe, post-partum depression), bipolar disorders and suicide risk. – Anxiety disorders. – Psychosis. – Addictive behaviors (with special focus on adolescents). – Dementia. – Epilepsy (neurological disorder). – Ethics.

  • Development of educational objectives of internship in University Hospital in Tunis.
  • Production of educational materials.
  • Implementation of different lessons.
  • Evaluation of lessons by learners.

Competencies

  • Expert in mental health, and experience of coaching and mentoring for General Practitioners’, psychiatrists or psychologists. Experience in developing modules, training materials, curriculum.

  • COMMUNICATION and Reporting skills: Speaks and writes clearly and effectively; listens to others, correctly interprets messages from others and responds appropriately; asks questions to clarify and exhibits interest in having two-way communication; tailors language, tone, style and format to match audience; demonstrates openness in sharing information and keeping people informed.

Qualifications and Experience

  1. Education

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in international relations, health, human rights, management, or a related field. A first level university degree with a combination of two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

  1. Work Experience

Designated among the teachers of the University of Tunis El Manar.

– A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in university or

training program on mental health.

– Relevant experience at similar projects, funds, and programmes) – or similar organization

is preferable. Experience in training. – Expertise in international cooperation and especially in Libya.

  1. Languages

Fluency in English is required and knowledge of Arabic is desirable.
