Background:

The International Republican Institute (IRI) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, organization dedicated to advancing freedom and democracy worldwide.  Since 1983, IRI has worked to develop democratic institutions and ideals, carrying out a variety of international programs to promote freedom, self-government and the rule of law worldwide.  IRI provides technical assistance in the areas of political party strengthening, developing civic institutions and open elections, promoting democratic governance and advancing the rule of law.

IRI has been operating in Tunisia since 2011 in variety of capacities including development of political parties, election observation, improvements in communications; development of civil society and support for good governance.  IRI seeks to hire a qualified person to coordinate programs and work with government ministries on their communications and outreach programs, especially those addressing challenges facing youth and women.

Period of Performance: 8-10 months, based on date of hire

Duties:

  • Design, plan and/or facilitate trainings and events on decentralization, communications and other democratic governance related topics for political parties, members of parliament, civil society and national government members
  • Liaise with IRI partners in civil society, political parties and national government to arrange program activities and ensure their participation
  • Develop communications strategies and plans for government agencies, departments or ministries
  • Deliver communications training to government staff on developing communications plans, strategies or awareness campaigns
  • Arrange logistics for Tunisia program activities, including all logistics for organizing trainings, seminars and conferences.
  • Provide or make arrangements for interpretation for program trainings as needed

Critères d'éligibilité

  • BA in communications, social sciences, political sciences or related fields.
  • 4-5 years of work experience with a CSO, International NGO, government or related governance organization
  • Knowledge of and experience with developing outreach and communication programs
  • Knowledge of good governance, role of civil society and decentralization
  • Proficient in speaking and writing English, Arabic and French
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office Suites
  • Detail-oriented and able to work in a team
  • Self-starter and Non-partisan
  • Experience working with government and civil society
