L’Association Euro-Méditerranéenne des Echanges, Volontariats, Evénements et  Turkish Red Crescent Izmir Branch are looking for 1 female long term volunteer for 6 months to bring international dimension into the Turkish Red Crescent Izmir Branch organization, bring and share the different points of view and cultures. We are seeking for international collaboration to contribute together to local development and help people.

What is EVS:

EVS (European Voluntary Service) is an international volunteer programme funded by the European Commission. It enables all young people, aged between 18 and 30 years, to carry out an international volunteer service in another country for a period ranging from 2 to 12 months.
European Voluntary Service is based on a partnership among the sending organization, the hosting organization, the coordinator and and the volunteer. The volunteer works voluntarily for the benefit of society within the scope of a project agreed by all the partners.

The volunteer at Turkish Red Crescent Izmir Branch will mainly perform the below activities:

  • Social Activities
    • Handicrafts
    • Intercultural Trips
    • Youth Camp Participation
  • Voluntary Work
    • Soup Service
    • Stands
    • Conversation Clubs
    • Involving in Different Projects
  • Office Activities
    • Writing a Blog
    • Creating a Broshure
    • Promoting the Project
    • Reporting the activities to board members

Who?

We are looking for a volunteer who:

  • Female
  • Age between 18-27 years old.
  • is motivated, active, creative, responsible and open-minded
  • has experience or interest in youth and people with disabilities
  • has ability to work in a team.
  • Has experience or interest in coordination and organization, PR, promotion activities, administrative task
  • Intermediate English Level
  • Based in Tunis or Nabeul
  • Ready to Spend 6 months in Izmir, Turkey strarting from November 2016 to April 2017

  • Experiences about disaster, elderly-needy and disabled people;

Budget:

  • Travel cost: up to 275€
  • Visa and other official procedures
  • Pocket Money: 80€ per month
  • Meal ticket
  • Volunteers will be hosted in a house that belongs to Turkish Red Crescent with a female Spanish Volunteer.

We are an organisation active in the youth filed, non-formal eduction, sport, volunteering, innovation and new thechnologies, aims to help young people to develop their skills and potential by means of peer education projects, as well as coordinatingyouth initiatives and youth policies, providing, training and information of interest tto young peple, and a major cultural and social voluntary service.

The Association Euro-Méditerranéenne of Exchanges, Volunteering, Events (AEMEVE) is a cultural non-governmental organization whose objectives are :

  • To increase knowledge of youth and children and better develop their cultural level so that they get involved in the re-building of the country.
  • To highlight the notions of open-mindedness, tolerance, and the acceptance of others in different social strata.
  • To contribute to the building of a cultural bridge between Tunisian youth and EuroMediterranean youth for exchange of knowledge, experiences and access to other cultures.
  • To contribute to the integration of our Tunisian culture in the Euro-Mediterranean space.
  • To contribute to the expanding of principles and values of democracy.

The association also works to strengthen the relationships between Tunisian and Euro-Mediterranean youth through:

  • The establishment of youth exchange programmes and travels.
  • The enhancing of Voluntarism.
  • The planning and organization of cultural youth events on the national and international level.

About Turkish Red Crescent Izmir Branch

Turkish Red Crescent is a part of the the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) which is the world’s largest humanitarian network.

Turkish Red Crescent Izmir Branch was established in 1911, aiming to help people in need. Our main activities consist of organizing seminars and trainings about first aid and disaster awareness, activities and camps for youth and carrying out youth projects. It hands out hot soup to people in need and refugees. It also award scholarship to students.

At the same time, since 2010, Turkish Red Crescent Izmir Branch has been organizing and conducting activities for youth aged between 15 and 30 by giving priority to disadvantaged people. It has been working on youth exchanges and youth initiatives, conducting projects under European Voluntary Service programme and carrying out works as a Eurodesk Contact Point with the aim of contributing to youth social life.

As a result of good practices and activities, Turkish Red Crescent Izmir Branch was granted a championship award in the category of “European Union Volunteer Involvement” in 2013.
