ORGANISATION

Founded in 2013, Cogite is the first coworking space established in Tunisia. It was ranked the third “Best Coworking Space in the World” by Forbes. Cogite’s mission is to fuel a movement of impact-driven entrepreneurship in Tunisia by building skills, fostering collaboration, and nurturing innovation. Cogite itself emerged in a context of rapid change and innovation. Since the 2011 revolution, entrepreneurship has taken off as a solution to Tunisia’s continued economic challenges, and as a way for Tunisians to chart their own path. The Tunisian start-up ecosystem has grown rapidly in recent years, with TechCrunch calling Tunisia, “the Middle East and North Africa’s next startup hub.”

PROJECT

In Tunisia’s rapidly developing entrepreneurship ecosystem, entrepreneurs struggle to grow out of two specific phases: the ideation stage and the growth stage. Over the past several years, Cogite has witnessed first-hand the potential for Tunisian entrepreneurs to provide sustainable forms of employment and shift the mindsets toward creative and inclusive approaches to problem solving.

Thus, Cogite is developing CogiteX, a tailored incubation program to support Tunisian start-ups at their two critical stages of development. Through two distinct, but related tracks, CogiteX will intervene to support two specific types of entrepreneurs: 1) aspiring entrepreneurs with a solid business idea (ideation stage) and 2) existing entrepreneurs ready to scale their startups (growth stage). The general objective of the project is to strengthen the Tunisian entrepreneurial ecosystem so that it offers young people of diverse backgrounds opportunities for employment, fulfillment, and creative expression. CogiteX aspires to play a central role in “scaling up” Tunisia’s entrepreneurship ecosystem so that it becomes more internationally competitive, more accessible to marginalized or unrepresented actors, and a driver for social inclusion in Tunisia.

Cogite has identified three specific objectives:

• Focus on the early-stage Tunisian entrepreneurs by developing an idea-stage program to equip early-stage entrepreneurs with the tools, skills, and mindset to transform ideas into a minimum viable product (MVP). In doing so, Cogite aims to engage a broader group of individuals in entrepreneurship, including marginalized groups, such as women and youth from interior regions.
• Increase the visibility and competitiveness of high-potential, established Tunisian entrepreneurs, by building a program to encourage growth of their existing businesses.
• Boost the turnover and job creation capacity of the businesses while expanding their social impact in the country.

The first activity ofthe Incubation Program will take 8 months.

RESPONSIBILITIES

We are looking for partners that could:
• Offer mentorship for participants along with a network that would help kick-start sustainable enterprises.
• Offer an internationally recognised training program and post-training support to candidates.
• Request fund allocations in a timely manner to proceed with project activities.
• Select and share a list of relevant case study candidates according to the criteria agreed upon by both parties.
• Engage in communication and promotion of the exclusive partnership with Cogite during the launch and ongoing publication of the Incubation Program road-map.
• Submit all final narrative and financial reports at the end of the project cycle.
• Ensure the timely completion of the reports and perform quality control on the written outcome.
• Submit relevant information about job creation for the narrative reporting to Cogite in a timely manner.
