Join us on Monday, August 7th at 7pm for our next exciting panel discussion titled: “Lessons learned: From innovative idea to successful Start-up” with Pauline Eveillard (Fouta Inc.), Leila Ben Gacem (Blue Fish) and Anissa Meddeb (Anissa Aida).

These three female entrepreneurs bridge the local with the global. On this panel, each will briefly describe their businesses, and the challenges and opportunities they face in launching their businesses, from innovative idea to successful start up. Following 30 minutes of conversation, the panel will open up to continue the conversation with the audience.
Few words about our invitees:

ANISSA MEDDEB (Anissa Aida)

Raised in Paris and Tunisia, emerging designer Anissa Meddeb creates clothing and accessories inspired by the intersection of North African culture and Eastern aesthetics. The Parsons School of Design graduate interned for Marc Jacobs Accessories and avant-garde fashion collective ThreeAsFour before launching her debut collection in 2016. Designed in New York and produced in Tunisia, Meddeb’s looks invoke classic Arab silhouettes with an architectural edge. Dubbed “one to watch” by Fashion Scout London, her most recent collection was presented at fashion weeks in Paris, London and Berlin.

LEILA BEN GACEM (Blue Fish)

To Blue Fish founder Leila Ben Gacem, Tunisia means hope. She sees a country at a geographic crossroads where cultures have collided and co-mingled, and she’s dedicated herself to telling that story. Through Blue Fish, Ben Gacem promotes and celebrates Tunisian heritage, supporting local artisans and creating sustainable economic impact by introducing their handmade work to new customers. Her favorite place to visit in Tunisia is the Medina of Tunis, a place she describes as “dense with human and heritage stories” where there’s a new discovery around every corner.

PAULINE EVEILLARD (Fouta Inc.)

Since living in Tunisia as a J. William Fulbright Program U.S. Student Fellow, Pauline Eveillard has returned to Tunisia every few years to spend time with lifelong friends, foster deep relationships with Tunisia’s entrepreneurs, and continue exploring the stories behind the people, places, and products of Tunisia. In 2010, she founded Fouta, Inc., and launched the e-commerce site foutalifestyle.com, selling 100% cotton Tunisian foutas. In 2017, Fouta Lifestyle will relaunch as Soukra, an e-commerce site that provides access to home décor and fashion from Tunisia’s designer movement by highlighting these creative entrepreneurs, and embracing their Tunisian culture.
